His dreams were sweet and filled with intense passion and love intertwined between him and his beloved Koga. The sound of the rain outside had dissipated a long time ago, and now the only thing to be heard was the gentle rhythm of Koga’s soft breath on his neck as he slept peacefully. Inuyasha thought back to when his pursuit first began for the wolf. Never would he have thought that it would turn out anything like this for them both. His heart ached at his hard loss just a few days before this new found love was birthed. He closed his golden eyes and his mind wandered back a few days before…
“Damn. Where is that stupid girl?” Inuyasha sat irritated on the edge of the bone eaters well, waiting for Kagome to return with his promised roman noodles for helping find the last of the jewel shards. The day was calm and the grass swayed with each whisper of the wind that combed his silver mane with ease and gentle fingers. Different scents of the changing weather skipped on the ripples of the air, as the spring began to bloom and recover from a harsh winter. He stared into the well and found himself growing overly impatient. He sighed and looked out to the waning sun, as the air grew thick with the night. He swung a leg over the edge and let himself fall into the well.

“What? Wh – what are you talking about? No my – she…” A strong conversation was taking place on the phone between Kagome’s mother and a muffled male voice on the other end of the receiver. A heavy weight of question and devastation lay on all the shoulders of the house hold.
“Grandpa, what is…” a small thin boy with pitch black hair, and big watery eyes stared up at his grandfather for an answer as to why his sister had not returned home yet. Gripping his grandfather’s sleeve he watched his mother play with a locket hanging loosely on her chest. The same question was asked over and over again in total disbelief. The only question that could be asked was – What the hell are you talking about? Wide eyes and heavy hearts sat around Kagome’s mother waiting for the resolution to their wonder.
Climbing up out of the well and into a familiar territory and a welcoming land, Inuyasha could smell the strong and discerning scent of terror and utter emotional deterioration. Something was seriously wrong, and slowly he made his way up the stairs to the sliding doors and cautiously reaches out to the handle to slide it open. With a slight hesitation he gripped the handle and was startled by hearing a heart wrenching scream coming from inside. With a deep breath and his heart racing fast he threw open the door to find Kagome’s mother on her hands and knees crying out her daughter’s name. Inuyasha rushed over to her and held her close to his chest as she screamed into his kimono, tears deeply staining her face.
“What is wrong Kagome’s mom?” Inuyasha asked with deep concern and feeling, for the hysteric woman dying into his chest. After a good while, they were then joined by the little boy. Tears for the lost these were, and Inuyasha was oblivious to what could have possibly happened. He tried to piece together the scent, the tears, and the inevitable feeling of sadness he himself had garnered with stepping into the room. His brow loosened its normal angry grip on his emotional features and his golden eyes fell on the locket that Kagome’s mother fiddled with while leaning into him. His ears twitched about with curiosity before he slowly reach up and took a claw across the surface of the locket. The beautifully weeping woman looked up to him, and with a weak but reassuring smile, she opened the locket for him. The locket had been a golden shell harboring a picture of Kagome as a little innocent girl. Her face seemed to be bright and her eyes full of childish emotion that tugged at Inuyasha’s heart. Beside her was a baby picture of Souta, an infant at the time with big eyes almost as responsive as Kagome’s. He traced the face of the little happy girl in the picture and wondered why he had a feeling, as though he were dreading to be there. Suddenly feeling angry, he harshly closed the locket and held it tight between his thumb and index finger. With a gentle and calm voice, he asked the only question that he could muster.
“Where is Kagome?” his voice seemed to waver and crack a little as he became overly fearful of the answer he would receive.
“Kagome…” her mother repeated tears once again stinging her eyes.
“Yeah, Kagome. Where is she?” he pushed again with a voice stern but comforting to the woman who gazed up at him, her eyes glazed over with terrible emotion.
“She is… gone.” She sputtered forcing her face back into his chest.
“She doesn’t live here anymore? Where did she move to?” Inuyasha questioned with a dumbfounded look lying innocently on his face.
“She’s… dead Inuyasha. There was an accident. The police told me that she and her school friends were on their usual route, as reported by the ones still able to speak. A car had lost control and taken most of them down in a swift moment. They were all injured to one extent or another, but Kagome… but beautiful little girl… she didn’t – didn’t make it.” Her voice trailed off as her tears swelled up and her throat constricted with emotion not allowing her to say anything else.
Inuyasha took the scenario into consideration for a moment before he could fully register what was just being reported to him. Finally in a revelation of what he had just realized, his eyes tore open and his mouth dropped with a dramatic wail that escaped him. Nothing he had ever heard before, his mind went blank and he scrambled across the floor and up against the wall with tears flowing from his frightened eyes. Dead? There was no way Kagome could be dead! What the hell was going on?! His life was falling into a downward spiral and the night was swallowing him whole. The intolerable noises that escaped him were muffled soon after reality pushed back into his consciousness. This was his punishment. But, for what? What did he do to deserve to be deprived of his best friend and possible love? Although he contemplated for hours on end, his mind finally came to a simple junction. There he stood alone and afraid and uncertain of what he should do next.
One way lead back to his era, where Naraku, Koga, Miroku and his worst nemesis Sesshomaru awaited him. The other, lead to a dead end where there was a dark corner and the locket that Kagome’s mother held. Which decision should he make? Should he end his life now? Should he sit alone in a dark corner and just wish for another reincarnation to come along? The answer was on the tip of his tongue when he noticed someone waiting in the shadows of the dark and shady road of turmoil and grief. In the corner someone was waiting for him. He took a slight step towards the dark without fear knowing that somewhere in that darkness, Kagome was waiting to greet him. His heart raced and his body trembled terribly as he glared deeper into the dark.
“Kagome?” he questioned the abyss.
“Yes, Inuyasha?” a voice beckoned back.
“Is it really you?” he asked hopeful in his own doubt.
“No, Inuyasha I am no longer connected to this world. I am only with you in your mind, this dark and empty place.”
“Then… what does that mean? Why did you leave me alone?”
“It was not up to me. Apparently it was my time to go. That is all right though. I now have my grandmother and my ancestors to meet and fraternize with if it makes you feel any better.”
“Kagome…where should I go now? What should I do?”
“You do what your heart tells you to do, and not what you mind says you should.”
“And how the hell am I supposed to know what my heart wants me to do?!”
An eerie silence fell upon them both. Inuyasha felt as though everything he had worked so hard for was spiraling away from him. The Shikon jewel did not even matter to him anymore. What was he to live for? His fists clenched tight at his sides and his glistening bangs coveting his face, he made his decision. He took a step back from the dark road and looked out to his home. Once again, the annoying stinging of tears caught him off guard and he blockaded his face with his arm. A few more blind steps were taken and he could feel a cool breeze brush past him. As he slowly let his arm fall, he found himself fondling the prayer beads before used to subdue him when Kagome did so desire.
“Kagome…” he whispered as he grasped the beads, feeling the emotion being drained from his body through his tears.
“G—good-bye.” With this, he tore at the beads and the necklace shattered. The beads fell about him and tinkered on the floor about his feet. With strong and determined steps, he followed into his era where he knew, others still awaited him. Far more important things waited for him rather than a life of depression and regret. He did nothing to cause this, and even though it was hard on his pride to admit, he could not do anything about the fate that had met Kagome that day. As he walked tall and proud, a gentle light illuminated his mind and he fluttered open his eyes. He looked about himself to notice he was kept away in Kagome’s room. The fruitful colors and fun little decorations sat silent and sad around the room.
“Are you awake, Inuyasha?” Souta asked him sitting on the floor next to the bed with a large grin placed upon his face.
“Um, yes I am awake now little brother. But I am afraid I must go back now to my own home.” He said in almost a whispered tone as though feeling a bit guilty for leaving the little boy behind.
“Oh yes, I knew you would be going. And so, I am going to give you this.” The boy stood and put his hand in his pocket as though he were retrieving something of important value. Once the mysterious item was obtained, he held out a tight fist and presented it to Inuyasha, who know sat with his legs crossed on the bed staring at the boy’s tiny hand.
“You want me to take your hand with me? It might be rather painful to do that.” He insisted running a claw across the boy’s wrist showing where he would need to take the hand from.
“No silly.” The boy giggled and again boldly presented his fist to Inuyasha.
“You take this with you, and remember me by it.” He took the dog’s paw and opened it so the palm was flat. He put his fist on the hanyou’s palm and opened it firmly pressing their hands together. At first Inuyasha was going to proclaim that there was nothing there, when indeed it was the truth. Instead he held his tongue and waited for the boy to speak first.
“This, is my wish that you will live a happy life with good health and a smile upon the world and that you will always come and visit me to play and comfort me when I am scared.” He then began to search his pockets franticly. It seemed to Inuyasha that he had lost something when finally the boy smiled and put his hand on his heart. Slowly he made a fist and again placed it on Inuyasha’s hand in the same manner as before.
“And this is my love big brother.” A tiny smile tugged at the boy’s lips before he jumped into Inuyasha’s lap and kissed his cheek.
“Promise me, big brother you will always keep these two things with you?”
The hanyou could feel his heart start to hand heavy again with the weight of the beautiful youth’s kiss still lying on his cheek. He closed his fist tight and returned a care filled kiss to the little one’s forehead.
“I promise for now, and all of eternity. And trust me, I will come to see you each and every chance I get.” He nuzzled the boy’s neck playfully and let out a gentle growl as the little one squealed and giggled. Souta then wriggled off of the hanyou’s lap and made his way out of Kagome’s room. He headed down the stairs in high spirits and song. Inuyasha took in a deep breath and stood straightening himself against the gaze of the morning sun beating down on him. He smiled a great big toothy grin as he made his way too, down the stairs and again to the well. He looked over the edge and into the abyssal darkness that was soon to devour him whole and take him back to where he truly belonged and where his business was to be finished. Swinging a leg with ease of the edge of the well he looked back one last time to see the family, Kagome’s mother, little Souta, and grandpa looking out to him with smiles and warm hearts.
“You know you always have a home hear Inuyasha.” The woman said waving to him. He nodded his head and let himself fall into the well. As he fell and the darkness took him he could strangely here Koga’s voice calling his name. Gently the voice called over and over until he opened his eyes to see Koga’s face hovered over him.
“Inuyasha, wake up you mutt.” A comforting smile betrayed the wolf’s playfulness and his eyes gave away his gentle meaning. Inuyasha looked about him to find himself back in the dark cave now emitting some light from the entrance. His dream, the horrible remembrance of this loss was gone now and he was once again in the presence of his latest new found love.
“K—Koga. What time is it?” Inuyasha asked his voice thick and raspy with sleep.
“It is almost noon. But, I have been summoned Inuyasha. I have to go see the elders but I will be back for you.” A gentle tune his voice seemed to sing as he leaned in closely and took Inuyasha’s hand in his and nuzzled his neck.
“You… you promise me you’ll come back Koga?” the hanyou asked fearful of losing Koga so shortly after losing Kagome.
“I promise, love.”
“You have to come back, don’t make me come looking for you be…” His scold was cut off by a sudden gentle kiss leading into a lingual dance of his tongue against Koga’s. He found his heart melting away little by little into the demons mouth as Koga’s hands danced fruitfully over his body. Pulling away was not an option for him as the wolf’s hands found their way to the back of his head, tangling themselves in his mane. An eternity of passionate lust passed for them both when finally they resurfaced for air.
“I will be back for you no matter what it takes…” Koga sealed his promise with a solidified stare that ate away at Inuyasha and gave him a sudden jump start and his heart began to fight against his chest. Koga slowly but surely began to slip away and then disappeared from the cave leaving Inuyasha alone and naked in his bliss.
Once dressed and equipped with his sword, Inuyasha exited the cave into a warm blinding light of the spring fully awakened and fully in bloom. The gorgeous cherry blossoms where fruitful this year and Inuyasha found them much more glorious in his wake than he had ever before. As he descended from his perch just outside the cave entrance, a new found revelation pushed into his mind as he noticed he didn’t feel so bitter towards Koga. Everything around him, including himself, seemed to be fully refreshed and coherent with his abnormally cheerful mood.
Slowly but surely, he finished his descend and felt the gentle moist grass beneath his chaliced bare feet, and he seemed to respect it much more than he had before. Was this the one thing he had honestly never experienced before? Was this honestly the forbidden true love?
This is chapter two of the My Love. Though it is not as sexually exciting as the first chapter and third and fourth and fifth and sixth are set up to be, it gives you a better understanding of his first chapter motives. Enjoy.
